Set up a still life at my homie's crib.


My boy Maine wants to take up drawing as a hobby. I was happy to offer some knowledge to him. I told him that its all about focus and commitment. I also told him to draw everyday and by the top of every week he would see and significant improvement. And every month and so on. By the end of the year he would be a BaJillion times better than where he began.

So since he would be drawing the still life every tues, I figure what the hell I need to work on my painting skills. So i brought a laptop my new Intuos4 (yezzir) and I painted from life for the FIRST TIME EVER. I always look at photos but something about painting from life makes you pick these more intense colors. You just see things better and you can creat harmony from your own mind. I get too tempted to eyedrop photos, and it never works as well. My boy Adonyel (animeidiot) has been coaching me and tryin to get me pn the right path to make a career move or at least be known as a painter and not a comic penciller (that title sounds limiting and....i dont know, limiting lol). I need to get on this more often. I had to borrow my girls laptop, so now I need one of my own so i can work anywhere.

So now every tues, I have a pupil. I think my other good friend Duce is also interested. I love when people take the initiative to ask for help.


I think 45 mins or so, maybe more...maybe less..

You make a great point...photo ref is one thing but it helps to really open up to trying different things.

I think I'll try that too :)

great pic of art here. the only problem i have with this is the bottom of the purple look rush. you could have add hint of red and red violent through out the piece as well. you really did a great job with the lighting and green hues.


other thing is maybe you want to try the painting on the canvas with oils and other paints. you might enjoy it more then painting on your laptop.

all in all great work.
